Last year Forbes published a comprehensive article about the reasons talented people leave organizations. Not surprisingly, almost half of the top 10 reasons turn out to be related to ineffective management. For example, failing to find a project that ignites their passion, poor annual performance reviews, lack of career development options, lack of accountability, and problems with their boss. The other reasons have more to do with larger, organizational shortcomings like: lack of open mindedness, unclear vision, a lack of great team members/collaborators, bureaucracy, and too many shifting priorities.
