WILSHIRE HEALTH AND COMMUNITY SERVICES TO PARTICATE IN LIVE TELEVISED HEALTH CARE FORUM
San Luis Obispo, CA – Wilshire Health and Community Services’ President and CEO Tricia Ritchie will participate as a special guest panel member in a live, two hour television news event set to air on KCOY 12 and FOX 11 on Wednesday, December 2 from 6am to 8am.
The program will feature a live discussion with executives and leaders of several Central Coast health care organizations and will be moderated by KCOY 12/FOX 11 news anchor Randall White. The show is intended to be a public forum for the discussion, presentation and debate about the possible local impact of currently proposed national health care reforms.
“So much of the debate is focused on a national scale,” said Ritchie, “and some of the inflammatory language and hyperbole has overshadowed some of the real issues. This program promises to give the community an opportunity to get important information and for my health care colleagues and me to have a meaningful discussion and perhaps a spirited debate on how health care reform might affect our local community.”
Local residents will be invited to participate with questions via email, text and by phone and the show will be broadcast live from 6am to 7am on KCOY 12 and continued from 7am to 8am on FOX 11. It will also be streamed live at www.kcoy.com as well as www.myfox11.com and will be available on demand on both websites after the program airs.
“I’m grateful and excited that Wilshire was asked to participate,” said Ritchie. “I think its recognition of the tremendous work our employees do everyday and the important role that Wilshire Health and Community Services and it’s sponsored non-profit organizations play in the communities that we serve.”
The Caring Callers program recently celebrated the retirement of longtime program director Wanda L. McFarlane. A representative of state Sen. Abel Maldonado, R-Santa Maria, presented McFarlane with a retirement resolution from the California Senate, and she also received a certificate of recognition from Rep. Lois Capps, D-Santa Barbara. McFarlane worked in the volunteer services field for nearly 30 years and has served as the Caring Callers program director for 13 years.
